FAQS

IS OVER:BOARD COMPATIBLE WITH ALL PC CASES AND PERIPHERALS?

Over:Board is a Mini-ITX motherboard and as such is compatible with any PC case that supports ITX, Micro-ATX and ATX motherboards. We can't say it will work with absolutely every PC case ever made, but it should work with most. As for peripherals, this really depends on driver support in the Linux kernel or Raspberry Pi OS distribution. The list of supported devices is expanding daily and once Over:Board is out in the community I'm sure this will expand even more.

DOES OVER:BOARD WORK WITH ALL VERSIONS OF THE RASPBERRY PI?

No, Over:Board is only designed to work with the Raspberry Pi 4 Compute Module in it's various configurations. It will not work with any other version of the Raspberry Pi (Model A, B, B+ and CM1/3+)

WHY DOES THE SATA CONTROLLER USE USB RATHER THAN PCI-EXPRESS?

In order to keep the PCI-Express bus untouched for maximum performance and compatibility with PCI-Express cards

DOES OVER:BOARD COME WITH A RASPBERRY PI 4 COMPUTE MODULE?

No, there are many different configurations of Raspberry Pi 4 Compute Module which would over-complicate the Perks options on the campaign, not to mention backers may already have one in their possession. The modules are readily available from online retailers.

CAN OVER:BOARD BE USED TO FLASH AN OS TO THE RASPBERRY PI 4 COMPUTE MODULE EMMC?

Yes, when the Over:Board is connected to a PC or Mac via the Micro-USB port it will act as a USB client allowing you to flash to the eMMC.

WILL OVER:BOARD RUN WINDOWS 10 LIKE A PC DOES?

Yes and no. Windows 10 has been successfully ported to the Raspberry Pi 4 (and 3 for that matter) and is in constant development with regular updates and improvements. However, it won't run as well as it does on your desktop PC or laptop and won't run every Windows application available. Please explore the Raspberry Pi community and YouTube for more information.
